I have a bachelor’s degree in history and psychology from Hampshire College, a master's in Library and Information Science from the University of Rhode Island, and a master’s in history from UMass Amherst. I am currently writing my PhD dissertation on Quakers and their involvement in the Atlantic slave trade.

I have four years of experience in academic librarianship, in public service and archives management. I have also taught history courses at UMass Amherst since 2007, and have held positions in a variety of other related fields, including museum education, exhibit design, curriculum development, database design, project management, event planning, and web development.

As the liaison to the University Writing Program, I work with faculty, librarians and students on integrating information and digital fluencies into research and learning practice. My pedagogical focus is on active learning to instill social responsibility and encourage civic engagement, and to promote a life-long love of learning in those I teach.
